24 Nov SMOOTH OPERATOR: Arctic Fox Hire
If you’ve taken any amount of interest in the SE QLD/Nth NSW wedding scene of recent years, whether you knew it or not, you’ll have almost certainly clocked your eyeballs on a whole lot of Arctic Fox. Discerning B+Gs with an eye for style and value will already be familiar af with AF.
This is SMOOTH OPERATORS #3
SMOOTH OPERATOR: Arctic Fox (Hire/Styling)
WHO IS ‘ARCTIC FOX’?
Well, I’m Katie. Starting out (waaaayyyy) back in 2013, Arctic Fox was just a husband and wife team based in Worongary on the Gold Coast. We’re still married(!), but the team has expanded to a magnificent 7.

HOW DID ‘ARCTIC FOX’ START?
My husband already had his own timber furniture manufacturing business and we saw a gap in the wedding industry for good quality, solid, affordable timber furniture for hire so we created a modest range of bench seats, timber tables and timber arbours and it has just naturally expanded from there.
WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE?
Luke made timber furniture and I worked as a Medical Recruitment Specialist with a personal hobby of renovating and styling homes.
HOW WOULD COUPLES TO DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE:
My personal style is minimalist. I love clean lines and practical beautiful set ups (no good having these amazing looking floral arrangements on your table that are so high you can talk to the person opposite you)
WHAT MAKES ‘GOOD WEDDING STYLING’?
Making sure that our design and styling reflects each couple that we work with. It is their day after all. We want to take their style and passions, inspiration images and bring it all to life in an even more amazing way.
WHAT MAKES A GOOD WEDDING?
Good company, good food, plenty of alcohol and really fun music to dance the night away.
FAVE INSPO SOURCES:
I love Nouba Blog, Willow and Bear (some serious floral inspo), and of course good old Pinterest.
MOST UNIQUE WEDDING/THEME/GROUP/CROWD?
I love working with colour! We were lucky enough to create a Mexican theme wedding which was also an open air reception under our festoon lights.
ANY MYTHS/MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT STYLING/HIRE YOU WANT TO QUASH?
Just that it is your day, so make sure it looks the way you want it to.
INDOOR or OUTDOOR WEDDINGS? DO YOU DO BOTH? GOT A FAVE?
We do both. I love outdoor weddings and receptions under our festoon or fairy lights. Second fave would be under a clear marquee or pavilion.
THREE Q’s COUPLES SHOULD ASK THEIR WEDDING STYLIST:
I think every wedding and couple is so different so this is a tricky one. I would just recommend speaking on the phone and if possible catching up in person. You will know if they are the right fit for you.
HOW MUCH NOTICE DO YOU NEED?
We are currently taking 2019 bookings however I would say 8-12 months is generally safe unless you are getting married in May and September I would book a little sooner.
THREE FAVE SONGS/ALBUMS:
Forever – ben harper (I walked down the aisle to this one)
Green spandex – xavier rudd
*…. and anything Britney Spears (shameful I know haha but it takes me back to girls nights and lots of dancing!)
*We should mention that Katie wanted this omitted. We refused. Moohahaha!
THREE ARTISTS CURRENTLY SPINNING:
I am sadly very uncool when it comes to music.
Give me top 20, Pop/RnB anyday… so I just try/rely on new spotify playlists!
ANY LAST NUGS OF ADVICE?
Setting up a wedding can be really stressful especially when you haven’t done it before. Yes having a stylist does cost more but it is such a good investment! Rather than your friends and family running around trying to work our your seating chart or where something goes, we come in with a plan (created with you) and take most of the stress out of your day so you can just get ready and enjoy it – plus we pack down the day after!
