07 Feb SMOOTH OPERATOR: Married By Tash
We’re actually not sure where we first met Tash. Y’see, going back a few, we used to pimp ourselves out around the pub/cafe/club scene pretty freely (where Tash was frequently the MC du jour) and from time to time we’d cross paths at a gig. Always bright, bubbly & friendly, always looking a million bucks, and always a complete professional. We were pretty stoked to hear she’d entered the wedding industry & had zero doubts that she’d soon become a most sought after commodity.
This is SMOOTH OPERATORS #2
SMOOTH OPERATOR: Married By Tash (celebrant)
WHO IS ‘MARRIED BY TASH’?
I’m Natasha Thompson. I live in Casuarina NSW, I’m 32 years young with a fun and positive outlook on life! Oh, and I’ve got a baby on the way!!
The lovely ‘Married By Tash’
HOW DID YOU GET INTO CELEBRANCY (and is that really a word)?
I worked in ‘public speaking’ for years, so it was a pretty perfect transition. I’ve always loved weddings & had several friends and family asking me to marry them, so once I hit 30, I got qualified & become a celebrant.
WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE?
I worked in Sales, and did public speaking for several corporate associations around Australia, fashion events and worked with nightclubs as well. Basically a decade of public speaking, hosting, marketing and events.
HOW WOULD COUPLES TO DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE:
Fun, Positive, caring & kind. I am all about the couple on their wedding day they are my number one priority, to make sure they feel relaxed, happy and have the best day ever.
WHAT MAKES A GOOD WEDDING CELEBRANT?
A good celebrant should give 110% to their couples, from the initial meeting to unlimited phone calls, so they form a comfortable relationship with their celebrant, and to make sure their wedding day goes exactly how they planned!
WHAT MAKES A GOOD WEDDING CEREMONY?
All ceremonies are different, it depends on the couple of course! But a ceremony with laughter, a few tears (happy ones!) and so much love, with a positive vibe is always wonderful.
FAVE INSPO SOURCES:
I have so many! I don’t know where to start.
MOST EXOTIC/UNIQUE LOCATION?
I had 2 enquires for Bali weddings last year, but I was booked already so unfortunately couldn’t go. I have a wedding in Hamilton Island in May, and another in Fiji latter this year. How about in a hot air balloon!?
RAIN, HAIL, SHINE, BEACH OR BARN?
Sunny of course! But rain, hail or shine, as long as the couple are happy I am happy!
I always love a beach wedding, but I am leaning more towards farm weddings these days, as what the wedding event companies do is just incredible, from a blank space to a fairy-tale wedding.
THREE Q’s COUPLES SHOULD ASK:
Are you available?
What are your costs?
What do you do differently to other celebrants?
Every Celebrant is different, you need to make that connection with your celebrant so you are both comfortable and your wedding ceremony is tailored to suit both of you!
HOW MUCH NOTICE DO YOU NEED?
I am booked out 1 year in advance. This year I only have a few spots left in November. (Friday and Saturdays that is) Through the week, couples have a better chance of getting the celebrant they are after even if it’s a few months out.
THREE FAVE SONGS/ALBUMS:
Oh god I have so many more than 3!
‘Keep Your Head Up’ or ‘Only Love’ Ben Howard
‘Powerful’ Major Lazer
THREE ARTISTS CURRENTLY SPINNING:
Flume, Tash Sultana & Sean Paul (baby likes the beat, ha!)
ANY LAST NUGS OF ADVICE?
You only have one wedding day! Make it special, book in advance with your celebrant, venue, makeup artist/ hair, florist (Tash accidentally forgot to mention MUSIC!!) so you are happy with your choices for your magic day.
