RAD Wedding Soundtrack: Rach + Bill

RAD Wedding Soundtrack: Rach + Bill

When picking your wedding songs and wedding music, you should be aiming for a R.A.D. WEDDING SOUNDTRACK.

Make it REPRESENTATIVE of you (as individuals and a couple).
Make it AUTHENTIC to your tastes (don’t just go with what’s current and hip).
Make it DYNAMIC (there’s no light without the dark).

Real RAD Wedding Soundtrack: Rachel + Bill @ Ewingsdale Hall, Byron Bay (2/6/18)

Rach & ‘Wild’ Bill were up the coast doing a bit of wedding re-con. They were staying in Cabarita which gave us the perfect opportunity to schedule a couple-of-beers-disguised-as-casual-coffee ‘meeting’ at one of our fave local haunts Black Oak Cafe. Cliched as it may be, to say we hit it off straight away would be a an understatement. We easily found loads of common ground. Bill loves his footy (and sports in general), they both love travelling (Rach is actually Irish) and live music, and we even reckon we nailed down a few specific gigs and festivals which we actually all attended (No way! Way!!).

Needless to say, the wedding they were planning sounded like it’d suit us down to the ground. And it did.

I’m reluctant to use the term ‘no frills’ because of the negative connotations it can imply, but it’s perfect for Rach & Bill’s wedding in the way that, from the outset, their focus was on all attendees having a ripper of a day – rather than ensuring Rach got to tick off a long list of Insta-Wedding must-haves. This was always going to be an authentic hands-up, hair-down celebration. Nothing over-styled and stiff.

Having said that, this was still a seriously sexy and photogenic affair. Most of us would be able to attest to the idyllic setting that is Ewingsdale Hall. A can’t-really-put-a-foot-wrong kind of project for the rad team of wedding industry pros (co-ordinated to perfection by Ngaire Hogan of Event Stylist & Co.) that Rach & Bill hand selected.

Rachel looked incredible – effortlessly embodying her ‘Goddess by Nature’ wedding dress choice – while Bill looked sharp as all heck in his white shirt, navy suit-and-tie combo.

With such salt-of-the-earth folk, the sonic juxtaposition of Enya & Jurassic 5 (the artists responsible for the songs that bookended their wedding ceremony) felt like a perfect match and a wholly accurate representation of Rach & Bill as a couple, as well as what they wanted their day to be. That is; meaningful, magical, and one heck of a party. And it sure was that. (proof: their first dance song was Total Eclipse Of The Heart – get the Old School reference?).

Thanks so much for having us along, lovers.
